Runners return to NCCS By Andrew Johnstone email@example.com CHAMPLAIN — The Cougars cross country team is may be small, but ten runners bring past experience into this season. All seven boys, led by team captain Kevin Capito, are returning athletes for NCCS. On the girls side, three of the six are new this year. Jaden Gosselin is the girls’ captain. Coach Darcy Castine, who coached the modified team the last two years, said that the low numbers have made team-building a goal for 2014.
The Cougars will return over half of last year’s 9-7 team while the girls moving up from JV are solid players, said Coach Brent Banker.
Juniors will bring strength, speed this soccer season
The Cougars girls’ soccer team returns a strong core of returning players, especially in the junior class, to the field in 2014.
The Northeastern Clinton Cougars will field 13 seniors on their boys soccer team this season, only one of whom is a first year varsity player.
The Chazy girls’ soccer team may have lost 10 players from last year’s 16-3-1 team that went all the way to the NYSPHSAA Class D semi-finals last November, but return strong talent for 2014.
The Chazy boys’ soccer team has been a Class D dynasty over the years, winning all but two crowns since 1997.

Friday’s game against the Ticonderoga Sentinels was an eye opener for the Saranac Chiefs.
Adam Jaquish threw for 109 yards and accounted for two second half touchdowns to solidify the Vikings 28-6 Friday night, Sept. 5 win over the Plattsburgh Hornets in the season opener for both teams.
